Our Mission

The Collab was founded in 2016 by a group of friends who decided to utilize their unique and diverse skill sets in order to positively impact the community from which they came. The group decided to invest in their community through their annual Doc Dennard Scholarship. The Doc Dennard Scholarship was created to encourage and support Detroit high school seniors as they enter the next phase of their education and represent the City of Detroit. Through the scholarship, The Collab have been able to award $10,000 to Detroit high school students.

In 2021, The Collab decided to revamp the The Doc Dennard Scholarship to have more  impact on the students that the organization served. The D.O.C. Fellowship program was developed as a way to provide students with the foundational knowledge and tools needed to become productive, highly functioning adults who possess a strong sense of philanthropy for the neighborhoods from which they originate and serve. The Fellowship hopes to foster young people to reimagine, recreate, and revitalize their pathways for tomorrow through mentorship, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
